Sexual Addiction
Formally trained by Patrick Carnes, Julie is a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist, certified by
the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals.
Julie has served on the certifying committee to certify Christian Sexual Addiction Specialists.
Currently holds groups for female sexual addicts. She has named these groups FSR
(Female Sexual Redemption).
She also sees female or male sexual addicts individually.
Spouses of Sexual Addicts
Currently in the process of writing a book to help navigate through the healing process
of being a spouse of a sexual addict, based on experience, formal training, and what she has
learned in working with spouses.
Julie facilitates therapy groups for spouses of sexual addicts, as well as individual sessions.
She calls these groups S.A.R.A.H. (Sexual Addiction Relational Awareness and Healing).
When contemplating what to call the groups, she wanted something indicative of the struggle
many spouses face, the tendency to want to fix things. It reminded her of Abraham's wife,
Sarah in the bible, and how she proceeded to "help God out in fulfilling the promise of a son,"
and the heartache that came as a result of doing it her way rather than God's. Yet God loved
Sarah and did keep His promise and the result of His way and His timing was blessings instead of anguish.
Sexual Abuse
- Facilitates therapy groups for adult victims of sexual abuse
- Facilitates closed groups where all members were specifically victims of incest.
Sexual Purity Issues
Part of Julie's heart's desire as she witnesses a sexually invasive society
and its damage on lives is for singles not to fall prey to the same
deception in which many of her clients live the consequences. Sex within
God's design differs vastly from what the media or movies portray. Real
intimacy that is fulfilling emotionally, spiritually, and physically is what
she counsels towards.
